**AUTHOR PEEK** Interview with Erotic Paranormal Author, Ashlynne Laynne

[[Editorial Note: Excerpts not considered PG-13 are provided by link. Please do not click through unless you are 18-years-old.]]

Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a fulltime writer) what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share.

I’d like to thank Karen for hosting me today. I’m hard at work on the third book in my Progeny Series entitled, Blood Promise, but I’m thrilled to take time out to spend with you and your readers. My name is Ashlynne Laynne and I write erotic paranormal romance. I live in North Carolina with my husband and teenage son. I write part time and work fulltime outside the house. This hectic schedule is chaotic and sometimes stressful, but I’ve somehow managed to release two three hundred plus page novels in the last eight months.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking and spending time with my family.

1. How did you get started writing?

I’ve written country lyrics and poetry in the past. A dream about my character, Ascher, was the genesis for the Progeny Series.

2. What genre(s) do you write in and why?

I currently write erotic paranormal romance that deals with vampires and witches. Both these paranormal creatures are my favorite, and I’m elated that I’ve been able to merge my two paranormal loves into one story.

3. What is your favorite part of writing?

I think most writers will agree with me when I say that typing “THE END” on a manuscript is a moment of complete bliss.

4. What is your least favorite part of writing?

Editing is the part of the creative process that I dread the most. It can be stressful and time consuming.

5. Where do you get the ideas for your stories?

The Progeny started with an intense dream about Ascher, and I tend to dream most of the scenes that end up in my books, but anything can spark an idea for a scene. I keep notepads and pens strategically placed around my home for when inspiration strikes.

6. What is your typical day like?

I work Monday through Thursday from 5:30 am- 1:30 pm. I usually try to social network for a couple of hours and write for two or three hours every day. The mood to write sometimes comes in waves, so I try not to be too hard on myself if I don’t feel like writing on a particular day.

7. What is most difficult for you to write?  Characters, conflict or emotions? Why?

Last week I wrote a death scene for one of my characters. I consider my characters like my literary babies, and when faced with the task of murdering one of them, it really tore me up. It was a dark place and I found myself frequently coming up for air. It was the first time I’ve ever killed a character that I liked.

8. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?

My next release will be Blood Promise, which is the third book in my Progeny Series. It is the continuation of Ascher and Shauna’s story. As of now, it has no definite release date, only early 2013.
