**AUTHOR PEEK** Interview with CJ Snyder
1. How did you get started writing?
I started writing plays starring all my friends and our current rock star crushes when I was an early teen. That rapidly progressed to an epic (and unfinished) 500 page manuscript that was sex, more sex and yep, more sex. My mom stole a peek and said she learned a few things, but I think she and my dad were happy when I figured out plots were good. Due to a twisted brain malfunction, I love happy endings, but make my hero and heroine really work hard for them.
2. What genre(s) do you write in and why?
Romantic Suspense/Thrillers. Somebody will die. Someone will try to kill the hero or the heroine or both. Guaranteed.
3. What is your favorite part of writing?
When the words flow two days in a row and you get up, reread what you wrote the day before and say, dang—I’m good!
4. What is your least favorite part of writing?
When the words don’t flow, and you get up, reread what you wrote the day before and say, man I suck!
5. Where do you get the ideas for your stories?
Usually from dreams. I get the start, and the black moment. My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to tie the two together in a way that makes sense.
6. What is your typical day like?
Well, I go to work, like everyone, then try and find time to write in the cracks and crannies. I’m a widowed grandmother of eight (soon to be nine), so I don’t have to fix dinner if I don’t feel like it. The best days are when I can cram work into a few days then steal a big block of time to just write.
7. What is most difficult for you to write? Characters, conflict or emotions? Why?
Hmmm, I guess emotions, because in order to write them right, you’ve got to feel them to an extent that’s even larger than the book itself. Writing an emotional scene can leave you drained and exhausted if you’ve done it right.
8. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?
My next book will be a prequel to my Black Fire series. It goes back ten years when this amazing unit got together and how and why they formed their tight-knit group. It ends with a bang. It will be available for free. After that (hopefully by fall) I’ll release Tron’s story, Dead to Rights.
