**AUTHOR PEEK** Interview with Author, CYNTHIA WOOLF
Before we get started talking with Cynthia, I’d like thank her for joining us here today to tell us about her new western romance in her Matchmaker & Co Series. Welcome, Cynthia!
1. How did you get started writing?
Well, I wrote my first story when I was ten, at least the first story I remember. It, of course, was a romance. I started writing as an adult in 1990. A couple of friends and I started a round robin on a pirate story. I joined Romance Writers of America and Colorado Romance Writers. I’ve learned my craft at CRW and continue to hone it with workshops and classes.
2. What genre(s) do you write in and why?
I write romance. I have to have a happy ending. There’s enough grief in the world without living it in the books I write.
3. What is your favorite part of writing?
The writing itself. Discovering the story. I don’t plot out my stories, so as I write, I’m learning the story too.
4. What is your least favorite part of writing?
Editing. For the same reason as I like to discover the story. I don’t plot out my stories. I’m a pantser, so what I write has to be edited down to the base story and up again to the finished one.
5. Where do you get the ideas for your stories?
All kinds of places. New shows, TV shows, books, dreams, wherever my mind takes me there is a new story not far behind. My critique partners are also great at giving me ideas. I don’t know what I’d do without them.
6. What is your typical day like?
I don’t really have a typical day. I have insomnia so my day starts sometime in the middle of the night. I check emails, write, edit, do promo all at whatever pace and time it strikes me to do it. If I really get into my story I might not do anything else all day.
7. What is most difficult for you to write? Characters, conflict or emotions? Why?
It’s very hard for me to write conflict. I do my very best to avoid it in real life, so writing it is difficult for me.
8. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?
My latest book is Capital Bride. It came out on December 9th. It’s the story of a woman who, through circumstances beyond her control, becomes a mail order bride.
Unexpectedly homeless, unwed mother Sarah Johnson has few options. They could go live with her cousin William, but Sara believes there’s something untoward about his offer and it leaves her feeling uncomfortable. She’s qualified to be a governess, but no one will have her because she wasn’t married when she had her precious MaryAnn. Matchmaker & Co could be her salvation as mail-order-bride to Mr. John Atwood.
Single father, John Atwood, is raising his daughter the best he can in the wilds of the Colorado Territory but knows he needs help. No woman he knows wants to take on the raising of his daughter who hasn’t spoken since she saw her mother brutally murdered during a bank robbery. Can Sarah, John and their two daughters overcome their pasts and find happiness together?
