**Author Peek** Interview with Dominique Goodall

**AUTHOR PEEK** Interview with Author, DOMINIQUE GOODALL

Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a fulltime writer) what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share.

I’m the author of the soon to be released Echoes of Winter, book one in the Seasons of the Wolf series and a self-confessed wolf addict. I’m currently published in two anthologies by Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing and currently working on getting better known by sending in manuscripts for as many different anthologies as I possibly can.

As much as I love to admit it, I never will be able to count my wolf stuff- there’s nothing left for me to be truly able to collect without my own home.

1. How did you get started writing?

I had a brilliant English teacher who encouraged my writing talents – but it took a long time for me to trust what I was doing, and myself enough to flaunt my writing off.

2. What genre(s) do you write in and why?

I always write fantasy, whether animal, paranormal or just straight up dystopian. I live for the genre as I find it’s a great release and offer a much wider range of escape from the more boring every day life.

3. What is your favorite part of writing?

Falling in love with the characters when they let me tell their story properly, there is nothing greater than that for me. I often sit here and just writing one thing will mean that I fall for the characters even more.

4. What is your least favorite part of writing?

Writing the ending! I hate having to tie up every loose end, account for everything living or dead and then saying goodbye to characters I really don’t want to.

5. Where do you get the ideas for your stories?

Nothing can spark an idea the same way as a dream. I’ve had many a story start with a dream but then just as many start with the simple addition of a conversation about something utterly unrelated. I can work on three projects at once, with casts numbering over fifty strong – and they tell me their stories. I am a conduit for them.

6. What is your typical day like?

I’m a carer, so my day revolves around the person I’m caring for until the evening. 9pm – midnight is my time to shine, to use a pun. I write in that time, promote my book and get some attention going for myself. I rarely get to use Facebook in the day-time so it works best for me.

7. What is most difficult for you to write?  Characters, conflict or emotions? Why?

Emotions – some of my characters have complex emotions and are, or have been, in situations I just can’t even contemplate. I have to put myself in their shoes in order to even try and get some kind of realistic emotions through.

8. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?

My next (and first!) book is out on December 11th. It’s the story of Convel, Teira and Singer – three wolves who are nothing alike but end up the worst situations. A dystopian animal fantasy, it also has elements of the paranormal – it’s basically an all-round story of animals who are seeking homes. To find then will be a great sacrifice.
