**AUTHOR PEEK** Interview with Author, LB CLARK

Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a fulltime writer) what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share.

My family bounced around Texas when I was very young, and we ended up settling in a small city called Nacogdoches.  I’ve lived here more often than not ever since, but I will soon be moving to Galveston, Texas, to go to work for a very nice resort hotel.  This is a highly anticipated move for me since I love the ocean and Galveston is a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico.

How did you get started writing?

I’ve been making up stories – and sometimes writing them down – for as long as I can remember.  I discovered the world of fan fiction about ten years ago and was alternately inspired to think ‘I can do better than that!’ and ‘Man, I wish I could write like that!’  On a whim, I decided to try my hand at it, and the response was very favorable.  From there, it was only natural that I begin writing original fiction.

What genre(s) do you write in and why?

Rock fiction!  Seriously.  All of my published works – both the short stories I wrote for the Music Speaks anthology and the novellas and novels in my Jukebox Heroes series – are music-inspired and have a lot to do with music and musicians.  Beyond that, they tend to be hard to define.  My short stories fall into ‘General Fiction’ or ‘Contemporary Fiction’ while the Jukebox Heroes series is typically what I refer to as contemporary fantasy romance.

What is your favorite part of writing?

I love creating characters and writing fun bits of dialogue.

What is your least favorite part of writing?

Writing the bits of the story in between the parts that I want to write.  It’s not necessarily ‘filler’, but if I have certain scene in my head, I hate writing the parts that lead up to it!

Where do you get the ideas for your stories?

Everywhere.  From my friends, my real life experiences, things I read on Facebook, daydreams, songs.  Inspiration is all around, and I never know what’s going to spark an idea.

What is your typical day like?

I don’t have a ‘typical’ day.  It all depends on what is going on in my life.  Writing, unfortunately, is secondary right now, though I hope to be a full-time writer in the future.

What is most difficult for you to write?  Characters, conflict or emotions? Why?

I have a hard time writing action scenes.  If it involves car chases, explosions, martial arts, etc., it’s difficult for me.  I’m much better with dialogue and emotions.

Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?

My latest book –Storm,  book 4 in my Jukebox Heroes series – was just released on November 9, so I have no idea what my next project will be or when it’ll be out.  Likely, my next release will be another Jukebox Heroes short story (or a pair of short stories) and will be published before the end of the year.  But really, it all depends on what bit of inspiration takes my fancy next.
