Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a full–time writer) what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share to introduce yourself.
Hi, I’m T. Strange! I live with my wife and a lot of pets. I also have a horse, but I don’t live with her. I like seeing my horse as often as I can, reading several books at the same time—my preference is at least one fiction and one non-fiction—watching horror movies on Netflix, and playing video games with my wife. We share the controller when we play Gamecube games, and I have the Wii remote while my wife has the nunchuk when we play Wii games. We hope to eventually get a WiiU.
1. What genre(s) do you write and why?
All of what I write is M/M romance, but in several genres: paranormal, BDSM and contemporary. I have a few more genres to pull out of my sleeves, but not just yet…
2. If you were to choose one superpower, what would it be?
To be able to speak to anyone in their mother tongue. I think that would be a great way to put people at ease and get to know them.
3. Do you ever get stuck when you’re writing a book? What do you do to get “unstuck”?
I definitely do get stuck. Usually I just have to wait it out. So far *knocks on wood* it’s always worked itself out eventually. I typically have more than one story on the go, so I just work on a different one.
4. What is your least favorite part of writing?
Writing blurbs and other marketing materials. They always just sound really cheesy and lame to me, and I obsess about them until I run out of time and have to do it in a hurry!
5. If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?
I would prepare to walk you to a nearby restaurant. My house is quite small and our dining room table has a rat cage on it, sooo…not really anywhere for company. Or I might make nachos and my slowly-becoming-perfect guacamole, and you could squeeze on the couch with me and my wife. For some reason nachos are our default company food.
6. What is your typical day like?
This sounds kind of pretentious, but I don’t really have typical days. My wife works at a bakery, so she alternates between early mornings and working days. I usually write or work on para-writing (like this) while she’s at work. I work as a stagehand, so my schedule is very sporadic—sometimes I work intensely for a month, and sometimes I work twice in a month!
7. What is most difficult for you to write? Characters, conflict or emotions? Why?
I think I’d have to go with conflict, which I’m interpreting as action scenes. I sometimes have a hard time picturing where everyone’s limbs are and if certain positions are physically possible (this is doubly true when it comes to writing BDSM scenes!) Luckily I have a very obliging wife who’s willing to get into weird positions to help me out.
8. A penguin walks into your office, right now, wearing a sombrero. What does he say to you and why is he here?
First, wow, I have an office?! I’m not sure what he’d say, but it probably wouldn’t be ‘give me some squid’. Apparently squid is like granola or something for penguins—kind of bland and boring. Yep. You get a random penguin fact.
9. If you could wave a magic wand, what ill in the world would you solve and why?
Ignorance. I think a lot of world ills can be traced back to ignorance, so I’m hoping it would take care of a whole bunch of them at once! I believe people are afraid of things and situations they don’t understand, and people are never at their most reasonable when they’re afraid. And world peace! *beauty pageant smile and wave*
10. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?
Why, I’m so glad you asked! My next book (my first full-length novel) is being released on April 15th…in just two days! It’s called My Zombie Boyfriend, and it’s an M/M paranormal romance about Edward, a medical student/necromancer, and Kit, the body he finds and reanimates. It’s not a typical ‘grr, argh’ zombie story, but I think zombie fans will enjoy it too!
