**Author Peek** Interview with Vicki Batman
**AUTHOR PEEK** Interview with Author, VICKI BATMAN
Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a fulltime writer) what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share.
Hi, Karen and thank you for having me today. I’m a Texan from way back. I mostly write fulltime. For fifteen years, I have been on the board of my local library’s friend’s group. I love to needlepoint, play mah jongg, and read! Handbags fill several shelves in my closet. I know–addict.
1. How did you get started writing?
A friend challenged me. Eight chapters later, I showed her what I’d done and she said to keep going. Fortunately, I follow directions well. lol
2. What genre(s) do you write in and why?
Mostly, I’ve written contemporary romance. However, I have written a magical erotica novella. Why? I guess because it came to me.
3. What is your favorite part of writing?
I love getting in the groove and letting the fingers fly over the keyboard.
4. What is your least favorite part of writing?
Promotion. And promotion.
5. Where do you get the ideas for your stories?
Ideas are everywhere. I’ve begun from past incidents, from journal entries, from saying “I’m going to write a story about…”, from a casual phrase.
6. What is it that makes your writing different from all the others in your genre?
I think I’m different because I write funny short fiction.
7. Are you an avid reader? When you do read someone else’s writing, what is your favorite genre?
I love to read! I read a lot of mysteries (I go way back to Nancy Drew & Trixie Belden), followed by contemporary and historical romance. Then toss in other stuff.
8. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?
My e-story, “Twinkle Lights,” comes out December 5. Here’s a blurb: a do-gooder and a former delinquent turned lawyer team up to man a Christmas tree stand, only when the till is missing, fingers are pointed.
