SciFi Time Travel
BY EMANUEL ANDREI COSUTCHI
A reptilian species uses the time travel as a weapon to enslave other civilizations. An android is not content about the present and tries to alter the past.
Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a full-time writer) what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share to introduce yourself.
Hello and thanks for having me. To begin, my name is Emanuel Andrei Cosutchi, friends call me Andrew. I was born in August ’77 therefore I chose my nickname ACE977. I do NOT use a pen name.
I live in the European Union, Romania – you know the country of Dracula and the World Tennis Associations number 1 ranked, Simona Halep.
I work as IT Engineer. My goal is to become a professional writer and my dream is to have one of my books turned into a movie.
1. What appeals to you about the genre that you write?
Once I was a consumer of books. Also I watched movies and I played video games, but one day I decided to create my own Sci-Fi universe. I began to write books in August 2016, having in mind this consumer experience.
2. Are you a plotter or a pantser (one who writes “by the seat of your pants”)?
I always start with the title. Then I create a short plot that would become the backbone of my story. I add characters and details on the fly. I like to be creative and to write genuine books. My beta readers can confirm this. I used knowledge of physics, mathematics, biology, psychology, genetics, history, geography, computer science, chemistry, astronomy and xenology to create my books. Also, I invented genuine names for everything: planets, animals, plants, items, ships, characters etc. I made a database with all this information in order to keep track of them. The readers will not be bored with science facts and this huge dictionary, because my story line will flow easy and naturally. Also, I created some bits of alien languages for my books, my novelette The restoration and my space opera Starship “Apple of Discord”.
3. What is your favorite part of writing?
Depicting alien worlds and creating dialogues are my favorite parts of writing.
4. If you had to give up writing and do something else, what would you do instead?
I would be interested in the movie industry.
5. What’s your favorite meal of the day?
This would be the breakfast. I never skip this.
6. Which are your favorite characters to write, the female characters or the male characters? Why?
I believe that a person is defined by the actions. The same applies to a book character. I tried to create realistic characters, regardless they are humans, aliens or from folklore (elves, dwarves, pirates etc.) Also my characters are evolving during the story and they are inviting the readers to care about them. I love to write both male and female characters. I hope that I did a good job depicting women – at least my editor says so.
7. If you had a superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it?
I would like to travel back in time and ask my younger version to write earlier and publish more books.
8. Many writers dream of having the ideal location to write. If you could live anywhere in the world or live a particular lifestyle, where would you be answering these questions right now?
I write where I can found a computer and a quiet place.
9. Do you have any rejection stories to share? Reviews that meant something special to you?
Yes, I have. The biggest publishing house in my country rejected my space opera Starship “Apple of Discord”, saying “It doesn’t fit in our editorial line”. They don’t support local authors like me and they publish mostly foreign well known authors like G.R.R. Martin, JK Rowlings, Paulo Coelho, John Scalzi etc. This event convinced me to write in English and seek for support abroad.
10. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?
I wrote five books until now but I have published only one book, a Sci-Fi novelette named The restoration.
I finished the first three volumes of my space opera Starship “Apple of Discord” on November 11, 2017. Between the three they cover more than 1300 pages and 350k words.
I finished a Sci-Fi novel called SS Vagabond in 2018 and I work now on my first Fantasy novel. I have two move science fiction novels which are finished in proportion of 90%, but I don’t have inspiration for the ending.
Now I am waiting for an answer from several publishing houses from the US, UK, Canada and European Union. It will take a while and I am not sure that those publishers will agree to publish my space opera or my novel, since am a debutant author. So, if you know any agents or publishers send them my way.
Here are some hook lines for my books:
A reptilian species uses time travel as a weapon to enslave other civilizations. An android is not content about the present and tries to alter the past.
The Galaxy would not be the same, after the kidnapping of an alien crown princess.
In a distant dystopian future, Captain Edward Turner is struggling to survive, transporting goods and passengers with his freighter, SS Vagabond. Eileen, the second in command and Edward’s lover, urges him to accept a risky yet lucrative mission to Mars.
