September Series Book 2

When Tracey marries Hank Carrington, her plan for a family quickly turns to one of survival after he returns to his homeland for a funeral. Tired of waiting, and frustrated by his on-going absence, she goes back to work for her long-time friend, Alec Birch.

A brutal home invasion leaves Tracey emotionally scarred and vulnerable. Soothed by Alec’s kindness and unwavering support, she is totally unaware of his long-standing and deep feelings for her.

When Hank does return, she begins to feel settled and secure again, until a killer emerges from the shadows, with Tracey firmly in his sights.

Can the police find the murderer before he finds Tracey – and when tragedy strikes and destroys all her carefully laid plans – does Tracey have the courage to take the new path life offers, or does she cling to the past?

September Series Book 2

Hi, I’m Denise Fitzpatrick, author of Romance, Mystery and Suspense. I am New Zealand born to parents who actively encouraged reading and writing from an early age.

My childhood story writing featured ‘baddies’ with close-set eyes and moustaches, disappearing swiftly around street corners with coat-tails flying – a hero in hot pursuit. I thank, or blame, depending on your point of view, Enid Blyton’s Famous Five booksfor the inspiration. My long-suffering brother should have received an award for his patience in listening to my stories!

As I had always been fascinated with words, English became my favourite subject at High School. However, my adult life did not include writing for a living until I joined TrustPower in 1993. This was business writing though, not creative writing, and there is a huge difference. But finally, at this time, I knew I’d found my niche and my future became inspired.

In 2007 my father turned 90 years of age. He was a very clever man and had led an interesting life. At that age, he was still as ‘sharp as a tack’, so my brother and I encouraged him to write his memoirs. He duly set down in longhand a record of many of his childhood and wartime memories. Sadly, he passed away at age 98, but I was thrilled to later receive his precious notes from my stepmother. My father’s recall and attention to detail was simply amazing. I felt honoured to be able to collate and transcribe these notes into book form, so his children and his grand and great grandchildren would have a record of this amazing man’s life.

In 2014, inspired by my delightful grandchildren, I then penned my first children’s book. This was a quirky rhyming story titled ‘Mouse in the House’. The following year ‘Frog in the Bog’was born. This was another rhyming story that featured more of my grandchildren, and I loved the writing experience. Both books are available on Lulu.com.

Fast forward to August 2017 and the release of my debut novel ’September Promise’ published by Austin Macauley Publishers Ltd of London, and also published on Amazon. This novel has been inspired by my love of romance, coupled with travel. For many years my husband and I have travelled to North America, and they have been primarily road trips. This is where you discover places that are not generally covered by tour companies, and where you meet interesting and genuine people.

Having received some lovely feedback from readers to date, I have now completed Book 2 – ‘September Shadows’ which is full of romance, mystery and suspense.

I am an active member of RWNZ [Romance Writers of New Zealand Inc] . They are a group of fabulous New Zealand and overseas writers, who actively and authentically support each other in their craft every day. They are genuine people with genuine ideals. Just like my parents and brother, who shared with me their love, not only of literature and patience, but also of life. A journey of authenticity and passion that I’m looking forward to sharing with you.
