VICTORY  by DeEtte Beckstead

Book Blurb

Victory is scheduled to be released the first part of December 2012. It is the story of a small town whose people cherish faith and freedom. They are friendly and helpful to each other in spite of personal differences. But something happens when a man comes to the town and slowly takes away the freedoms the people have loved but taken for granted.

What about the child Brown Eyes? What is her role in this story of faith and patriotism?

VICTORY by DeEtte Beckstead

“It isn’t going to be long, ya know. I think it will be before Christmas. That’s just a few days away. I just have that feeling.”

The ladies nodded in agreement with him. He continued to look into the fire, as if reading something in it.

“I’m not sure what the outcome will be, but it won’t be easy, and it won’t be pretty. Too many people here have been taken in by him. But there are also many who are against him, privately, if not openly. He knows, too. He has spent more hours at his office, working. He has the mayor running all around, telling people they have to do this or that, or face punishment. There is always punishment. Besides banning Christmas decorations, and anything else associated with Christmas, he has decided that even the churches will not be allowed to hold any sort of Christmas services.”

Book Blurb

It’s Christmas Eve – A blizzard and a paranormal sighting cause an accident on a country road. Sam and Ellen seek refuge at a nearby farmhouse. Their experience with the elderly couple that live there will change their lives forever.

They had driven in silence for some time when a loud menacing scream split the night and a loud crack rang out to their left. “You think you are going to see your family!” they heard a voice cackle in the wind. “You won’t be there on time. In fact, you won’t be there at all!” A pine tree dropped directly in front of them, bouncing as it hit the ground.

Sam slammed on the brakes and screamed, “God help us!”  As the car spun out of control, they saw the same man with the ragged coat standing beside the road. The man’s laugh pierced through the icy gale as he raised his hands. The car slammed into the tree. Sam and Ellen were knocked unconscious with the impact.

The snow whirled around the car. There was no sign of the man, but his shrieking laugh resounded from the forest. It was everywhere at once.

Sam looked up, paused and took a deep breath. “I don’t know how we are going to get moving again. That tree is way too big for us to move.” Sam rubbed his head where a large goose-egg was forming. “You see that farmhouse over there? The lights are on; let’s see if we can use their phone.”
