Novel Gems ~ 01-29-13 ~ Killing Secrets by Karen Docter

Welcome to Novel Gems ~ Killing Secrets 01-29-13!

I love to sneak a peek into a writer friend’s developing novel. It’s just so much fun watching their story grow and getting the inside scoop.  So every Tuesday until I finish my romantic suspense, Killing Secrets, I’ll share a gem with you ~ a couple of sentences, several paragraphs of a pivotal scene, or a phrase that just made me sigh or laugh out loud or scares me or…well, you get the picture.

A bit of set up for today’s gem….

Patrick is frustrated…and that’s all you’re getting! 🙂

Happy Reading!

Killing Secrets by Karen Docter

Instead of her usual blue jeans and cotton work shirt, today she wore her delivery clothes.   The blue blouse that felt like silk in his hands until he removed it and uncovered the more satiny texture of her skin beneath.  The multi-colored skirt that skimmed her curves like a lover’s hands from a wide black belt down her body to the swirling hem around her calves. Standing just beyond the room’s threshold, Rachel looked sexy and touchable and it took everything he had to resist the temptation to cross the room and take her right then and there against one of the file cabinets behind her.

Their gazes locked for several heartbeats – long enough for his jeans to strangle his brain cells – before Rachel turned her back to him and walked out of view.  Damn it!  The police had better track down Greg Bishop soon.  Patrick didn’t know how much longer he could keep his distance.  He knew a relationship with Rachel was temporary – she’d made it clear she was leaving – but he hadn’t wanted the break to be so abrupt.  Or so soon. That Rachel seemed fine with the status quo was beginning to piss him off.

….see you next Tuesday with another NOVEL GEM!
