**AUTHOR PEEK** Interview with CJ Snyder
Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a fulltime writer) what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share.
I’m a grandmother of nine, mother of four, who lives in a 4-generation household in Colorado, which is loads of fun. When I’m not writing, I volunteer with RomCon “Where Readers Rule”, read and craft.
1. How did you get started writing?
I started by writing plays starring my friends. Then I realized I couldn’t write emotions and thoughts in a play, so I switched to novels.
2. What genre(s) do you write in and why?
I write Romantic Suspense, because love makes the world go ‘round but murder really spices things up.
3. What is your favorite part of writing?
When I know what I’m writing that day is good and I can’t wait to get back to my computer to keep going. Love those moments.
4. What is your least favorite part of writing?
When everything I write is boring and tedious and even I don’t want to read it so why would anyone else?
5. Where do you get the ideas for your stories?
Everywhere. Literally. I got the idea for Maverick’s prologue while I was stuck in rush hour traffic on my way home from work. That was one of the longest 45 minutes of my life. I couldn’t find a pen that worked in the car, so I kept cramming the vital parts through my head over and over again so I wouldn’t forget them.
6. What is it that makes your writing different from all the others in your genre?
I think the intensity with which I write. When I write a scene that I know is good, I’m emotionally drained by the time I’ve finished it—just as I would be if I’d lived it in real life. And that’s what I hope my readers get out of it also.
7. Are you an avid reader? When you do read someone else’s writing, what is your favorite genre?
I love to read all genres. When I’m in the middle of writing a book, I tend to love to read historicals as they’re rather removed from R/S. My favorites though, of course, are well-written Romantic Suspense stories.
8. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?
My next book is the prequel to my Black Fire series, Before You Were Dead. It will be out late September, early October. It goes back to the very start of the Black Fire unit and explains something of the characters that make up the unit and why they do what they do. After that will be Tron’s story, Dead to Right, which should be out by Christmas.
Thank you for stopping in and sharing with us, CJ. Can’t wait to share your excerpt for Maverick!
