**AUTHOR PEEK** Interview with Author, DEBORAH PALUMBO

Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a fulltime writer), what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share.

First I want to thank you, Karen, for having me on your blog again. I always have a good time with you!  I’m really glad that we’re friends!  As you know, I am in the process of moving and haven’t been on line, haven’t blogged or written so I’ve really missed you and everyone. But my home sold suddenly and I was in a time crunch; had to pack and scramble to get things going in one month! Unfortunately I missed out on Christmas and New Years, but I guess that will make Christmas 2013 even more special.  By the way, on the day of this interview I will be in transit and will miss this post, but I will be there in spirit.

So, let me just say a few things about myself. I am an Indie author.  I write in 3 genres: paranormal, historical and mystery. I co-wrote a screenplay with actor Jordan Rhodes (www.jordanrhodes,com) which is my claim to fame. LOL It was a wonderful experience for me. It was a lot of work, but I had a blast. Jordan is a great guy. By the way, check out my interview with Jordan. http://deborahpalumbobooks.blogspot.com/

I live a very quiet, simple life. I love the country, love to cook, sit around the table with family and friends, or on my screened in gazebo. Are you guys yawning yet?

Oh yeah, I love cheeseburgers and the Bee Gees! Go seventies!! Anyone have a time machine that’ll take me back to 1970?

Now, onto your questions….

1. How did you get started writing?

I started writing in grammar school, not novels but short stories, as well as poetry for God, but I always wanted to write novels. It wasn’t until I got sick though, and had a long period of confinement that I began to write novels; that was back in 1990, and the first and second ones were in the historical genre; next one was a mystery; and then in 2010 I dusted off my files, wrote more novels and in 2012 published them on Amazon.

2. What genre(s) do you write in and why?

I write in 3 genres: paranormal, historical and mystery. I didn’t choose the genres I write in; they chose me!

3. What is your favorite part of writing?

The entire process of creating and writing and having the characters come to life, plotting; it’s all one. I see it as a unit and therefore, writing itself, every aspect of it, is awesome.

4. What is your least favorite part of writing?

I love writing; there’s nothing about it that isn’t wonderful, but when I get tired and have to call it a night, well, that gets under my skin. I am always waiting to get to the end, so delays in writing for any reason are the pits! LOL

5. Where do you get the ideas for your stories?

Right out of my head. I can’t tell you how many times a mere word has given me an entire concept for a novel! Maybe you’re the same.

6. Are you an avid reader?  When you do read someone else’s writing, what is your favorite genre?

I am not an avid reader, shamefully. I am just too busy writing, but when I do read other books, I read in the exact same genres I write in and am always looking forward to picking up a good book by an Indie or new author. For instance, I have you wonderful books on my tbr and can’t wait to get to them. I’ve read Jodie Pierce, Mae Clair, Christina McKnight.

7. Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?

I am in the midst of moving as I said, so my writing is on the back shelf for the time being, but I do have a work in progress. It’s book 2 in my crime noir series, The Detective McAllister series and book 4 in The Undeparted; both of which I hope to have published this year!
