 **AUTHOR PEEK** Interview with

Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a full-time writer) what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share to introduce yourself.

My husband and I have moved a lot (his career was in the hotel business – as a consultant and then as an asset manager). Our most recent move was from Florida to Idaho to be with our family. It’s been fun and rewarding to be closer to them. Our children are grown so our long-haired Dachshund Winston is our late-in-life “child.”

1. What appeals to you about the genre that you write?

I write about strong women facing challenges and finding love along the way. I’ve always loved stories like this and admire women in my life who come together and support each other because, truly, we all face challenges from time to time.

2. Are you a plotter or a pantser (one who writes “by the seat of your pants”)?

I’m definitely a pantser. There are times when I wish I wasn’t, that I knew what was going to happen from begininng to middle to end, but I sometimes think being a pantser makes the story more exciting.

3. What is your favorite part of writing?

The excitement of coming up with a story idea, naming characters and the title of the book and then writing that first chapter is exhilarating. Believe me, it’s a lot of work from that point forward. 🙂

4. If you had to give up writing and do something else, what would you do instead?

I don’t think a real writer ever gives up writing, do they?

5. What’s your favorite meal of the day?

Dinner. My husband is a fabulous cook and we eat very well, with interesting meals and a glass of wine to accompany it.

6. Which are your favorite characters to write, the female characters or the male characters? Why?

I had to think about this for a while and decided it didn’t matter what the sex was but rather what a character’s story was that made him/her a favorite to write about.

7. If you had a superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it?

I’d love to be able to fly for the sheer joy of it.

8.  Many writers dream of having the ideal location to write. If you could live anywhere in the world or live a particular lifestyle, where would you be answering these questions right now?

Right now it’s cold in Idaho so it would be in some tropical place. Other than that, I have my own office and love that space.

9.  Do you have any rejection stories to share? Reviews that meant something special to you?

I’ve had many, many rejections but with a little bit of encouragement. It’s why when readers write to tell me they loved one of my books, it makes the joy a little sweeter. I also write middle-grade children’s stories and one of the most exciting moments in my life was when a little eight-year-old boy telephoned me to ask if I’d write more stories for him to read. I felt like flying then!!

10.  Tell us about your next book & when is it being published?

Readers wanted more stories about Ann and Rhonda, the main characters in Breakfast at the Beach House Hotel who own a small boutique hotel in Florida. I’m presently working on Lunch at the Beach House Hotel. It should be out sometime in May.
