Blurb

Toby Liberman is nearing the end of his rope. After a fateful confrontation with his wife’s lover, he is chased into the woods only to be discovered by an unidentifiable creature. He is attacked and rendered unconscious. Upon waking at the scene of a gruesome triple homicide, Toby is arrested as the sole suspect and thrown into a jail cell with a strange man that knows way too much about his predicament. The stranger reveals to Toby that he now possesses the curse of the werewolf. Using his new-found strength to flee his captors, Toby begins to discover that things are not what they seem in the sleepy town of Twin Oaks, TX. Now hunted by law enforcement, as well as the town’s gun toting civilians, Toby seeks vengeance against his false accusers and embarks upon a quest to clear his name once and for all.

Interview

Ryan’s final words were interrupted by what felt like hundreds of burning knives being forced deep into the flesh on the back of his neck. As the creature tugged upward with a force unlike anything he’d experienced before, Ryan’s world began to fade away into nothingness. The darkness overpowered him, and for once, he thought little of the pain, soccer, or his father… who’d been the cause of this situation from the beginning. From now on, his mother would be the one raising him again…but in a place beyond the comprehension of mortal men. With a final flash of his worldly vision, he had thought he’d seen the distinct image of his mother standing before him and holding out her hand as if to try and pull him free, saving him from this macabre fate bestowed upon him so early in life. With another stab and pull from the creature’s mouth, that image faded into nothingness. The darkness was all that remained of any signs of the life he’d known so well as though he were stuck in some type of repetitive dream and in the stages just before waking. When the new light found him, all signs of fear and pain were nonexistent.

  1. Docter says:

Good morning, Chad, and welcome back to Karen’s Killer Book Bench. I may not be able to watch werewolf movies these days (too visual) but I do enjoy reading stories about them. Really good excerpt! Snagged me! Thanks for sharing your book with us today!

  2. Kathleen Bylsma says:

Thanks, Chad, for the excerpt. I think I mentioned before your interesting background and how I see it playing into your books.
    Thanks, Karen and Chad!

  3. Thank you Kathleen! A lot of this book was fueled by a divorce I was going through but the relationship between the father and daughter was influenced heavily by my own. The town is a mirror image of the one I grew up in. If you ever get bored, Google search Greenville, TX lol. On a side note, one of my beta readers compared me to Kevin Smith and stated it should be titled Dante and Randall meet the Wolfman. I sent a copy to Kevin out of pure love for the man. It was returned to me haha
