A Big Rig Thriller

It’s February, 1993, and trucker Archie “Super Man” Harlanson is traveling to New York’s Hudson Valley with misgivings. He’s eager to see his girlfriend Debbie, but her elitist parents? Not so much. When he ends up at the family home, he figures the hardest part will be surviving the onslaught of relatives arriving to celebrate the birth of Debbie’s nephew. That is until the US President announces his plans to hold a campaign event nearby and the town is caught up in the media frenzy. When Archie stumbles on a deadly plot against the nation’s leader he finds himself butting heads with skeptical local law enforcement, the FBI, and the White House security team, and dodging the would-be assassins who now have him in their sights, all while trying to keep his head down in a household crazy with new-baby fever.

A Big Rig Thriller

Yegor flung open the passenger door and stood sideways on the foothold. His back braced against the inside of the door, one outstretched arm held the door open, his other kept the gun trained on Archie. “Bingo! Get in here.”

Bingo’s head swiveled toward the truck then back to the cops holding him at bay. They made compelling arguments for him to give up now. His body angled as first one man then another urged him to surrender before any real damage was done.

Archie saw his chance. He threw the truck into motion.

Yegor wobbled and fought to regain his balance, but his left foot lost its grip on the slick metal step. He struggled to straighten and get back into the cab. “You shit,” he screamed and fired.

Fluffy white stuffing erupted from Archie’s padded vest and he felt something sock his midriff hard, which really stung when he grabbed the shift lever and threw the truck into reverse.

Yegor stumbled forward and collided with the door frame. The door swung to and slammed him in the rear. Another shot rang out. Archie heard the bullet punch the headliner and clang against the truck’s roof.

Practically in one motion, Archie shifted into neutral, set the brakes, and threw a flying tackle at Yegor. They tumbled down the steps and landed in a heap on the ground.
