RETURN TO WALANDRA
The Legend of the Dragon’s Blood Key Book 2
BY LINDA L. BARTON
The adventure continues when Cassy is forced to return to Walandra and battle the evil Alona once and for all. As she prepares to go into battle, Cassy learns the truth of her heritage and how her bloodline will give her the power needed to be victorious in the coming war against Alona and her Demlins in the Land of Shadows.
Return to Walandra is the exciting conclusion of the legend of The Dragon’s Blood Key.
With the agility of a cat, the first of the warriors moved in on Cassy from behind, waving his hooked blade in figure eights until he stood an arm’s length behind her. Without warning, Cassy dropped to one knee and swung her sword, knocking her attacker to the ground. No sooner had she jumped to her feet, when a second warrior struck her on the back with a club, knocking her to the ground.
“Cassy!” Aaron called out.
Quickly scrambling to her feet, Cassy faced her attacker.
“Hey, that hurt!” she growled, her eyes burning with rage.
Cassy glared at her attacker, golden flames now dancing in her eyes. Their gazes met, and the warrior suddenly backed away, pressing his hands to the side of his head. He then dropped to the ground unconscious.
Cassy turned toward Aaron when she saw another warrior silently approaching him. “Aaron, look out!”
Aaron spun around and saw the warrior pull back on a bow and release its arrow. Time slowed as the arrow flew directly at his heart. Aaron could not explain it, but somehow, he was able to watch the arrow spin as it moved through the air. Then as it grew near, Aaron moved aside, allowing it to fly by and bury its head into a nearby tree.
Seeing his arrow had missed its mark, the warrior charged at Aaron, this time wielding a large knife. Aaron braced himself for the attack, but before he realized, Cassy had overtaken the warrior and dropped him to the ground with a blow to the back of the head.
“Behind you!” Cassy shouted.
Aaron spun around in time to see the fourth warrior charging toward him with his sword at the ready.
Aaron cracked a smile, awaiting the Warrior’s attack.
The Warrior moved toward Aaron slowly, his sword at the ready. He attacked with a fore swing then followed with a backswing. Aaron dodged the first and met the second with a blow of his own sword. The force of Aaron’s blade caused his attacker to stumble backward, jarring the two swords, but the attacker held firmly to his sword.
An overwhelming power surged through Aaron’s body. He gathered his resolve, and struck a glancing blow, slicing the warrior’s fabric at the midsection.
The warrior staggered upright. Aaron continued his onslaught, striking the warrior multiple times, but missing the last strike. The warrior smirked, but this only drove Aaron onward.
However, the next strike hit its mark. The tip of Aaron’s heavy broadsword now pressed against the heaving chest of his opponent. The warrior dropped to one knee in the act of surrender.
