THE LOST CHRONICLES OF THE 4TH WORLD
Lost Worlds Book 1
BY MICHELLE L. DE LA GARZA
An internal clock ticks. It’s counting down, but to what?
Nicolas Armani and Brooklyn ‘Brooke’ Adams must choose between freedom and a life of servitude. Part of the circle of six, they’re known as a threat to national security by some and an evolutionary link to others. Together, they sit at the edge of the doorway looking in.
The newly formed circle of six are on the brink of discovering their ancestral story, which leads to The Lost Chronicles of the 4th World. Will they bridge the evolutionary gap, generating a universal brotherhood? Or set off a chain reaction of events that will send mankind into another dark age?
CH 33: Fallen Allies
Whether if soul did not exist time would exist or not, is a question that may fairly be asked; for if there cannot be someone to count there cannot be anything that can be counted, so that evidently there cannot be number; for number is either what has been, or what can be, counted. –Aristotle
A thick layer of dust blooms six feet into the air. From a distance, the small mushroom cloud looks as if it erupts from the mouth of a miniature volcano. Riley is the first to rise to his feet. His heart is still racing and adrenaline pumps through his body. He grabs Brooke’s arm, supporting her until her legs become steady. He turns his head ninety degrees and lays eyes upon Nicolas Armani, who is standing, eyes fixed on the cloaked stranger.
“Where are we?” Brooke’s voice wavers.
Riley looks around. “Good question.” He takes in the hot, dusty terrain.
“We are at the mouth of what one would call Chaco Canyon.” The mysterious stranger perches on top of a large rock. “It is the ancient city ruins of a spiritual center created by this planet’s Pueblonian ancestors.”
Armani eyes the cloaked figure. “Why did you bring us here?”
“I did not bring you here. The Gate Keeper did.”
All eyes turn and look at Riley, who just shakes his head.
“I might have flicked my wrist, but I sure as hell didn’t bring us here. I wouldn’t have known where here is.”
“As the Gate Keeper, you take Bahana where he must go.”
“What?” Riley shakes his head, eyeing the dark figure closely. “Someone care to explain what the hell is going on here?”
“Who are you?” Brooke keeps an eye on the tall cloaked man.
“Whom I am does not matter, Blue Star.”
“It matters to us.” Armani dusts his shirt and pants off.
“I have no name in the primitive language of this world.”
Brooke takes a step toward the stranger. “Then what do we call you?”
The cloaked figure cocks his head sideways. “I use the elements of your world, call me Elementalist.”
“Elementalist.” Brooke shakes her head. “How about I call you List for short?”
“List.” The word rolls off his tongue. “I will answer to this name, List.”
Riley clears his throat. “Where are you from? Where did you come from? And why are you here?”
“You and I, we are the same.” List speaks in a monotone voice. He tips his head sideways. “I do not understand your question.” He opens his arms and makes a circle. “We are all the same.”
“You’re from here, Earth?” Armani takes a step back. “Your home is here?”
“No.” List moves his head side to side. “We are not of this Earth. You call this green and blue planet home, but it is not home to me.”
Riley crosses his arms. “Why are we here?”
“Because, Gate Keeper, Bahana brought you here.” List leaps off the rock, and moves past the group.
