What’s in a name?
Hi! I’m Jessica Aspen and I write Urban Fantasy romance—fast paced, sexy, and a little on the dark side. And that includes…shifters! All kinds of shifters, but right now I’m writing sexy, alpha, wolves. Yeah, baby! One of the things I love about writing any of my stories is that I get to decide on names. Now, names are interesting. Sometimes I read a book and I can’t believe the hero’s name—it’s just not the kind of name I’d ever choose for a hot guy. But when I write my own books, I get to choose and it’s a whole lot of fun!
Sometimes I stick with a theme. For instance, I’ve chosen all wolf last names for my Fated Mountain Wolf Pack. I loved researching surnames and seeing how different they are from culture to culture. Lupin, Wulfric, Lyall—there all names that mean wolf or something associated with wolf. See how much fun you can have?
So tell me—are you like me? Are you interested in the meaning behind the name? What are your favorite alpha hero names?

CAROLINA LOW-CARB INSTANT POT PULLED PORK
NOTE FROM JESSICA: I’m super busy, but I love eating good food. And being a wolf fan, I can’t resist including a recipe for carnivores. 🙂 Here’s one I use the instant pot for. I’ve even been known to use a pork roast directly from the freezer! Love that Instant Pot!
1.5 to 2 pound pork shoulder roast
1/2 cup diced onion
1 clove crushed garlic
2 tsp dried mustard
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup white wine (optional)
Salt & pepper to taste
Place roast in Instant Pot. mix liquids and pour on top of roast, add onion and garlic, salt & pepper. Set Meat/stew setting for 45 minutes. When cooking ends, turn off and do fast release. CAREFULLY remove roast and put aside for shredding. (Test to see if easy to shred, if not, put back in and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Turn heat up to saute and reduce sauce. Watch out! It goes fast. Stir occasionally with a metal whisk. Shred meat and add back into reduced sauce.
That’s it! I hope you love it as much as I do. For low carb I serve it over cooked riced cauliflower. Yum!!!
