Five Urban Myths…Truth or Myth?   ANSWERS!!

Yesterday, I threw some urban myths at you and had you tell me if they are TRUTH or MYTH.  Today, I’m posting the answers to those questions.

How did you do?!

1.  At the request of a state representative, the Texas legislature unwittingly passed a resolution honoring Albert DeSalvo – a man better known as the Boston Strangler.

TRUTH – It was an April Fool’s joke pulled by a House Representative trying to make a point.

2.  Child star Dana Plato of Diff’rent Strokes fame died of a drug overdose in 1999.

TRUTH – She was 34.

3.  Ostriches hide by burying their heads in the sand.

MYTH – If an ostrich hen senses danger while sitting on her nest, she won’t abandon it – she will press her neck flat along the ground in a bid to blend into the surroundings.

4.  Lions can’t purr like housecats can.

TRUTH – Big cats only make a purring noise when exhaling; housecats purr while inhaling, too.

5.  A dozen Burger King execs suffered first and second degree burns while walking over hot coals.

TRUTH – The injuries occurred during a 2001 team-building exercise.
