Excerpt
I walk down the steps and around the cluster of people standing or dancing. I walk around a group of f**kers, and then someone collides into me.
I hear laughter, and small hands hold onto my arms. I grab the girl to prevent her from falling.
“Ohhh, I’m sorry,” the girl says, laughing, moving her hands to hold onto me.
“No worries,” I say, holding onto her waist.
The girl’s scent smells familiar and poignant. It’s wreaking havoc on my senses. She’s so damn familiar. I look down at her, trying to see her face. She laughs, looks up at me, and stares at me with huge green eyes. Her laughter dies on her lips, and her eyes widen.
Beautiful green eyes stare at me, eyes that have haunted me. I can’t help but feel excited. My heart pounds faster in my chest, and I’m so f**king glad to run into her. I sent her roses, and I wonder if she received them.
Is she happy to see me?
“Elijah,” Sabrina whispers.
Her eyes sweep back and forth between my eyes, searching for who knows what. Maybe confirmation that it’s me or that I recognize her.
Of f**kincourse I recognize her. She’s been in my mind ever since I walked out of that hospital.
“Hey, Sabrina. Are you okay,” I ask, looking at her.
“Yes, yes. I’m sorry that I ran into you. I was looking for my friend,” Sabrina says, smiling at me.
Well, that’s a good sign, right?
She stands in front of me, close, holding onto my shirt. I can feel the warmth of her fingers burning my skin. I’m glad to learn that I didn’t imagine the special connection, and the chemistry is off the charts.
