THE RANCHER
Colorado Billionaires Book 2
BY CYNTHIA WOOLF
Blurb
She came to Whispering Winds Ranch to hide. Falling for her boss was never part of the plan.
Veterinarian Lyris Jennings is running from a painful past and hoping a fresh start will finally give her peace. At Whispering Winds Ranch, she plans to heal broken animals—and quietly mend her own wounded heart. What she doesn’t expect is the instant spark she feels for her new boss, a complication she can’t afford.
Widower Ray Kincaid has one priority: his ranch and his spirited young daughter, Mandy. Since losing his wife, Ray has built his life around protecting what matters most, leaving no room for love. Especially not for the woman who’s quickly becoming impossible to ignore.
But when Lyris’s past resurfaces in a dangerous way, the fragile future they’re beginning to imagine is thrown into jeopardy. With a ruthless threat closing in, Ray and Lyris must decide whether love is worth the risk—or if fear will steal the happiness neither of them saw coming.

THE RANCHER
Colorado Billionaires Book 2
BY CYNTHIA WOOLF
Interview
Before we get started talking about your writing, tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do for a living (if you’re not a full-time writer), what hobbies you have, etc. Whatever you’d like to share to introduce yourself.
I’m a Colorado native. I was raised in the mountains west of Golden, home of Coors Brewing Company and the Colorado School of Mines. I was married for 30 years to the man of my dreams. He died last year from lung cancer. It was not expected and totally devastated me. I’m retired from the corporate life but now write full time.
1. What genre(s) do you write and why?
I’ve written 66 historical western romance novels, six scifi romance novels and now I’m writing contemporary billionaire romance novels, thirteen of them so far.
2. If you were to choose one superpower, what would it be?
I’d love to fly. I dream about it sometimes and I can feel my stomach lurch when I start but then I’m so happy just to watch the scenery below me.
3. Do you ever get stuck when you’re writing a book? What do you do to get “unstuck”?
I always get stuck in the sagging middle of the book. To get unstuck I just power through. Often writing mostly dialogue rather than a description of what is happening. I know…it’s weird. LOL
4. What is your least favorite part of writing?
Plotting. I’m not good at it, but I use ChatGPT to help me. It works. It’s good at plotting and when I go off the plot, as I usually do, it will help me replot based of where I’ve gone.
5. If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?
I would prepare steak fingers with gravy, mashed potatoes and a fresh green salad. For dessert, we’d have bananas flambe.
6. What is your typical day like?
My typical day is spent in front of the computer writing or surfing the web.
7. What is most difficult for you to write?
Characters, conflict or emotions? Why? I can’t write conflict to save my life. I hate conflict in real life and so it’s very hard for me to write.
8. How likely are the people you meet going to end up in your next book?
It depends. I will put people I don’t like in my books more often than ones I do.
9. Tell us about your hero. Give us one of his strengths and one of his weaknesses.
My hero is kind and gentle with me but fierce with others. His weakness is the fact that he is kind and gentle with me. I’m his Achilles Heel.
10. Tell us about your next book & when it will be published?
Right now I’m writing The Baker. It’s the last book in my Colorado Billionaires series and it’s about Megan Kincaid, the only sister in the Kincaid family that I’ve been writing about. She’s a baker in her grandmother’s bakery, but there are people after her for the diamonds that her grandmother left her. The villains go to extremes to get their hands on them, from burning down her bakery to kidnapping her mother. She’s a billionaire, but works in the bakery because it was her grandmother’s and it makes her feel close to the woman she loved. She ends up with the man who was one that was trying to buy her bakery from her. Turns out he was only trying to protect her but they fell for each other anyway. This is a romance after all.
Cynthia Woolf is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of eighty-six romance novels. Comprising sixty-six historical western romances, eleven contemporary romance novels, two contemporary romance novellas, one historical western romance novella, and six sci-fi space opera romances, which she calls westerns in space. Along with these books, she has also published sixteen boxed sets of her books and two short stories.
Cynthia loves writing and reading romance. Her first western romance, Tame A Wild Heart, was inspired by the story her mother told her of meeting Cynthia’s father on a ranch in Creede, Colorado. Although Tame A Wild Heart takes place in Creede, that is the only similarity between the stories. Her father was a cowboy, not a bounty hunter, and her mother was a nursemaid (called a nanny now), not the ranch owner.
Cynthia credits her late husband, Jim, for loving her, saving her sanity, and encouraging her to explore her creativity. She misses his loving heart, gentle teasing, and winning smile more with each passing day.
