Excerpt
Mia and her mother, Felicia Guzman, were making fresh tortillas and tamales in Felicia’s newly remodeled kitchen. It was something she’d enjoyed doing many times during the year, something she and her mother started when Mia was barely walking. Her mother would put her in a highchair and give her some dough to roll out, even giving her dull knives to have her chop tomatoes and other ingredients for the tamales Felicia was famous for.
Mia figured it would be nice to give Fredo a nice home-cooked traditional meal, since tonight he would be home. It also gave her the stability, standing next to her mother for nearly a half day, gaining strength and courage to discuss with Fredo the reveal about Caesar’s possible release. Felicia had that quiet courage, forged through many years of adversity in Puerto Rico, when Mia’s father was still alive. Now, Felicia was loved again, this time by Gus Mayfield, her second husband.
“So, you enjoyed the baseball game, yes?” Felicia asked her.
Mia was hesitant to answer, not wanting to engage her mother further with some of her concerns, especially since she hadn’t talked to Fredo yet.
“They loved it, and I enjoyed it because I loved watching their faces. It was very generous of them to donate those tickets. We had private box seats in a suite area, catered and oh there was good wine and all kinds of fresh fruit smoothies. It was delightful. Hardly felt like a baseball game though. My recollections of baseball games were sitting in the sun, getting sunburned and dropping mustard all the way down the front of my chest.”
Felicia laughed. “Your father loved taking you to soccer games in Puerto Rico. He wanted you to play soccer, football, you remember Mia?”
“I’m not an athlete, mother. I don’t like getting bruised and muddy. Some of my friends in school were banshees about football. I didn’t want to get my clothes messed up or my hair, or my makeup. It’s amazing that I even married a man of action.”
“Well, that’s because he was one of your brother’s best friends on SEAL Team 3. You met him through Armando.”
“How could I forget? He reminds me every time I see him.”

Love your SEALs… have some catching up to do!
Hi, very nice to meet you! I love the sound of your books , and I love the book covers as well. Thank you so much for sharing about them, they sound very intriguing, I lived in Puerto Rico for about half a year and I loved it. Actually I was there visiting my sister and she was pregnant at the time, it was her first baby so I went to go be with her for a little while to help her out. Have a great day and a great rest of the week. Thank you for the chance.
Love your books. This one sounds as good as the others. Well, maybe not as good as Kyle’s book was…. that one is hard to beat. 😀

I enjoy military set books. As a military wife of 25 years, it is nice to revisit the special bond the men and the families have with each other. There really is a military family and we have missed it since retiring. The reunions our unit has every two years are important and enjoyable times. I am curious to find out more about their orphan adoption.
New author and series for me, sounds good!
This sounds like an enjoyable read, I look forward to it.
