A Steamy Marley Creek Romance

BLURB

She’s unemployed and back in her childhood home, but this time she’s taking care of her mom.
Susan Brown’s life was on track until this summer. She’s lost her job and now she’s back home taking care of her mom. The only bright spot? She’s finally going to see Eliza Fitzsimmons live. When her best friend backs out at the last minute, Susan can’t bear skipping the show, so she takes a chance on the Concert Buddy app.

Dating was not part of his plan, but neither was being a single dad.
Donnie Larson hasn’t made time for himself in years. He dedicates his heart and soul to his son Sebastian and his bakery/bookstore. But when his favorite musician is on tour for the first time in over a decade, his decision to go to the concert changes everything.

Can Donnie help create new high school memories for Susan and win her heart?
Susan spends her days and nights caring for her mother and she has no fond memories of her hometown. Donnie changes that by showing Susan the fun she missed in high school, like getting caught making out in the high school theater. Susan finds herself happier than she’s been in decades until Donnie’s enthusiasm to make plans for Susan gets the best of him. Will Susan and Donnie let their past mistakes stop them from the life they could have together?

It App-ened One Night Is a steamy small-town romance, featuring a single dad of a teenager who falls first, and an unemployed college professor caretaking for her mother. This later in life story is part of the Marley Creek Romance Series. It App-ened One Night is a standalone story full of Hallmark movie vibes, and a guaranteed HEA.

Interview

Are you like me? Do you tend to mood read? I’m such a season reader! I love when the time of year a book takes place matches my reality. Seasonal books that contain weather, events and festivals based on the calendar have an outsized appeal to me. So much so that it influences my books. Writing a small-town series allows me to add in sorts of details about what’s happening in Marley Creek as each book unfolds. No Gouda Without You and my latest book, It App-ened One Night take place during the fall. In It App-ened One Night we attend the second annual fall festival with Susan and Donnie; the first one is featured in No Gouda Without You. In It App-ened One Night, we also follow along as Donnie and Susan attend the high school football game, they volunteer to be actors in the annual haunted hayride, and there is a grand gesture at the annual Turkey Bowl game. I had lots of fun writing about fall as I was surrounded by it.

I have just started drafting my first springtime book, Your Mr. Brightside. Lucky for me it’s also almost spring where I live. I’m still working on what aspects of the season will show up during the book. One I will be factoring in is the start of baseball season! Gardens will also have to show up somewhere, you can’t write a book and not have any metaphorical growth! Oh, that also gives me an idea. There will be some spring cleaning in my book. Will the hero help our heroine clean the house? Now, is there anything more romantic than a man who cleans?

What aspects of spring do you love?  I love to hear!

  1. Your book sounds good. Definitely my kind of read. My favorite part of spring is seeing the flowers push through the ground and provide some color after a long, gray winter. The warmer temps help.

  2. I read as the mood strikes, the seasons don’t figure into my reading…
Thank you, Victoria, and thank you , Karen, for hosting
