This collection of poems is the result of trying to both find and express myself while experiencing the joys and struggles of life. Expressing my feelings in writing has always come naturally to me. The poems I share, rhyming and free-verse, are heartfelt expressions of emotions common to us all.
In these pages are reflections on childhood fun, adult frustrations, the beauty of nature, friendship, family, faith, familial, romantic and divine love.
Life is a series of never-ending events ~ from the beautiful to the tragic. While we each travel our own path much of what we experience is similar. This being true I hope you hear yourself sigh, feel your head nod, smile often, laugh occasionally and perhaps even wipe away a tear or two as you read along.

VALENTINE’S DAY SUCCESS
As always happens this time of year
a brand-new Valentine’s Day is here.
As yet, I’ve done nothing to express my love,
to show you’re the one I’ve been dreaming of.
I’ve brought you no candy or beautiful flower.
I’ve written no sonnet that speaks of love’s power.
I’m not made a card from pink hearts and lace,
nor strewn decorations all over the place.
No song of love am I prepared to sing.
No lovely wrapped gift have I to bring.
By society’s standard, I have failed you today.
If you asked anyone, that’s what they would say.
Yet, I hope by the standard of your loving heart,
you still believe we are never to part.
I pray that each day, all the year through,
you have seen in my actions, my deep love for you.
You’ve found not a cause to wonder or doubt
if the love we two share is what my life’s all about.
If there, in your heart, a question is hailed,
I will know that this year, sadly, I’ve failed.
Now just take a moment. Go back in your mind.
Evidence of true love are you able to find?
Do you see how I love you in the smiles that I give
and the happiness I have in the life that we live?
At night when I hold you so gently, yet tight
does your heart sense my love and know my delight?
Think back and answer only what’s true.
Have I left you to doubt how much I love you?
I am asking you now. Don’t leave me to guess.
This Valentine’s Day have I met with success?
