First I want to thank Karen for having me on her Killer Fixin’s blog today. I’m so excited to be here.

My name is Sharon Wray and I write romantic suspense stories. My debut novel EVERY DEEP DESIRE is the first book in the Deadly Force romantic suspense series where ex-Green Berets and their smart, sexy heroines redeem Shakespeare’s greatest love stories. 

EVERY DEEP DESIRE is a romantic suspense retelling of Romeo and Juliet. In this sexy action-packed version, the lovers from feuding families must face a team of disgraced ex-Green Berets, a brutal arms dealer, and a secretive army of assassins.

But the heart of this book is the love story between Rafe Montfort and his wife Juliet Capel. A couple who grew up together, married young, and were torn apart by forces far more powerful than they could’ve ever imagined.

Juliet Capel is a heroine who survived great hardships after her husband left her and the last thing she wants is help her recently-returned ex-husband defeat his enemies. Despite the fact that Rafe has come back to her as an incredibly sexy, full-grown man, she’s afraid to risk her heart.

BOURBON PEACH FRENCH TOAST & PANCAKES

Serves 4 people (2 toasts or pancakes each)
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Total time: 25 minutes
Calories:
380 calories per serving of French toast (2 slices)
290 calories per serving of pancakes (2 pancakes)

INGREDIENTS

Bourbon Peach Sauce

• 4-6 ripe peaches, sliced (pit removed)*
• 4 Tablespoons brown sugar
• 4 Tablespoons Kentucky Bourbon

French Toast

• 8 slices of your favorite thick-sliced bread. (I like multigrain or day-old French bread)
• 4 large eggs
• 4 Tablespoons water
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
• 1/4 teaspoon cloves

Pancake Mix

• 7 cups flour
• 4 teaspoons baking soda
• 4 teaspoons baking powder

Pancakes***

• 1 cup pancake mix
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup buttermilk****
• 1 Tablespoon oil

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat griddle to 350 degrees. (Or a frying pan with butter to season the pan)

Peaches:

2. In a pan, combine the peaches with the brown sugar. Turn the temp on low and let the peaches absorb the sugar for 6-8 minutes, stirring infrequently so as not to break up the fruit. Add in the bourbon and stir gently. Simmer for a few minutes until the alcohol has dissolved. It will look like peaches in a dark, sticky sauce.

French Toast:

3. While peaches are simmering, mix eggs, water and spices in a shallow bowl (I use a glass pie plate). Dip the bread and cook on a lightly-oiled griddle or frying pan, only flipping once.**
4. Place the French Toast on a plate and cover with bourbon peaches.

Pancake Mix:

5. Combine ingredients in a bowl and store in an airtight container. Mix lasts six months.

Pancakes:

6. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Let it sit for one minute, then cook pancakes in a lightly-oiled skillet or frying pan, only flipping once.**

NOTES

*If you can’t find fresh peaches, or don’t feel like cutting them, use canned or frozen. 2 12-oz cans of peaches in juice (drained) or a 20-oz frozen bag will work. Also, stale bread makes amazing French Toast, as do the crusts that no one likes to eat. The kids won’t eat them for lunch, but they devour the ends as French Toast. **I use an electric griddle to make French toast and pancakes and they turn out perfectly. ***If you make extra pancakes, they freeze really well for up to a month. ****If you don’t have buttermilk, I just add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar to a cup of milk. It’s not perfect but will do in an emergency.
