It’s time for Karen’s Killer Fixin’s! Over the years, I’ve filled two 4-inch, 3-ring binders with my own creations as well as recipes my family and friends were willing to share with me. I simply love to cook and want to share that love with my readers. So every Friday, I share one recipe I think you and your family might enjoy. It might be a main course recipe from my own kitchen or a guest author favorite. It could be a cookie or baked item. Candy. Salads. Whatever strikes the eye and fancy…which today is DUMPLINGS with GREEN PEPPERS & BEAN SPROUTS!
We’re only one day past our Thanksgiving feasts, so I thought it might be fun to share a recipe that has nothing to do with turkey or leftovers. Once you’re ready to make something entirely different, you might enjoy this Oriental recipe. Who doesn’t love dumplings?
I hope you enjoy today’s Killer Fixin’s. Happy eating!

DUMPLINGS with GREEN PEPPERS & BEAN SPROUT
(Serves 4)
1 cup sifted flour
Dash salt
1 egg
1-½ T. cold water
Filling:
1 green onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 cup cabbage, finely chopped
Salt
Dash Pepper
¼ lb. Oriental green peppers
1 cup bean sprouts
1 T. sesame oil
Mix flour and dash of salt. Stir in egg, then water, until stiff mix is formed. Roll out to thin, flat dough with a rolling pin on floured surface. Cut into 2-inch circles with cookie cutter.
Make filling. Stir-fry filling ingredients in wok, into which 1 T. sesame oil has been heated. Lightly stir-fry filling mixture until sizzling nicely and starting to brown, about 4-5 minutes. Remove, place in bowl and let cool several minutes. Fill each dough circle with 1 tsp. filling; fold over in half and seal by crimping with fingertips. Boil in salted water 4 minutes. Drain. Add to wok with 2 T. heated sesame oil. Add green peppers, then bean sprouts, and stir-fry over medium heat about 5 minutes. Serve immediately.
Happy Eating!
