Karen’s Killer Fixin’s: Barbecue Meatballs from Karen’s Kitchen

This recipe came from my mother. I remember smelling these savory little balls of heaven all day, every time there was a party or barbecue. The waiting was hard, I tell you! 🙂 It’s the perfect BYO food and so easy to make.

If you love Rice Krispie treats and s’mores, just think how good it will be to combine those flavors together! I love this recipe because it gives you the best of both worlds and it’s so easy to  make. Chewy, flavorful treats at your fingertips.

Karen’s Killer Fixin’s: Pat’s Beef Brisket

I usually make brisket in the crock pot with cabbage–the typical St. Patrick’s Day fare–however, one of my friends shared her version of the recipe that was melt-in-your-mouth scrumptious for one of her dinner parties. I was so impressed, I begged for Pat’s recipe. Considering that many of you may have bought more than one brisket for the recent holiday, I thought you might like to try this version.

I don’t know about you but I’m ready to pull out my grill. Yeah, I know spring is still around the corner. It’s only March. But, living in Colorado, we’re already seeing some relatively nice BBQ days and my mouth is beginning to water for grilled steak. This recipe is a wonderful, savory version.

Winter barely seems to have arrived and the flu and cold season has already taken over many households. I love soup in winter. It’s warm and satisfying. I decided to share this one soup recipe because it’s perfect for what ails many of us. Garlic is a known treatment for colds, as is chicken soup. This is a great soup for both purposes, and delicious even if you aren’t fighting off a cold or flu. Enjoy!

I know there are packaged spices that can help you to make Sloppy Joes, but it’s handy to have the homemade version available. It’s a tasty alternative to package, I know exactly what is in it, and I usually have the ingredients in my kitchen…and I don’t have to make a special trip to the store. Bonus!

Karen’s Killer Fixin’s: Shepherd’s Pie from Leftover Beef & Mashed Potatoes

A cookie or baked item. Candy. Salads. Whatever strikes my eye and fancy…which today is SHEPHERD’S PIE from LEFTOVER BEEF & MASHED POTATOES!

Sometimes we simply have too many leftovers after a big roast beef dinner. This recipe for Shepherd’s Pie is a scrumptious way to clear out the fridge and provide a different taste sensation for your family. I don’t often prepare anything from box but it’s great to have some biscuit mix in the cupboard for those last minute throw together meals. But feel free to mix up a batch of your favorite biscuits to use instead. Just adjust the recipe ingredients accordingly. This recipe can also be used for chicken and pork leftovers which makes it really versatile.

This is a fun twist on the basic chocolate cake, and who doesn’t love banana bread and chocolate chips. Mix it all up together and what do you have? A cake full of rich flavor. It doesn’t even need frosting!
