THE RELUCTANT DEBUTANTE
Chronicles of the Hudson River Valley
BY JEAN JACOBSEN
Blurb
Tragedy. Sacrifice. Love.
Clarissa Tanner is carefree and joyous until the sudden death of her parents. Forced to pay off family debts, she’s given one choice: auction off her beloved horses or reluctantly enter 1830s New York Society to face the dreaded marriage market.
Nicholas is a man on a mission. The artist is hunting for his missing brother who got mixed up with the wrong crowd at the wrong time. To pay his way, Nicholas takes a position as a dance instructor, providing refresher lessons to the beautiful but distracted Clarissa.
As Clarissa trains her thoroughbreds and Nicholas continues his search, the two find a connection through grief and movement. With the auction looming, Clarissa wonders if she could possibly lose her parents and the man of her dreams in rapid succession.

Don’t miss the chance to read this book!
I liked what I read In the blurb. This sounds like a book I’d love to read. The fact that Clarissa raises horses adds to my interest in the book. I do love horses! This just sounds like a very interesting book.
Hi Judy-
Thanks for stopping by today. Clarissa is a smart young lady, way ahead of her times in terms of bucking the traditions of a male dominated world at that time.
She sets her mind to something and goes for it.
Happy reading!
Jean
Both your book and your smoothie sound delicious. Thank you.
Hi Rose-
If you like strong female characters in 19th century, I think you’ll find Clarissa to be just that.
I follow a Weight Watcher’s eating plan and have smoothies for breakfast on occasion or sometimes lunch. With all the fresh fruit coming into season from California, we in Colorado have a wide variety to choose from.
Enjoy the read and a smoothie!
Jean

Karen-
I’m excited to be here with you today. From the comments I’ve seen, looks like we have a great group of readers and smoothie lovers.
Enjoy!
Jean
I have some great readers stopping by, don’t I? 🙂 And who doesn’t love smoothies?!
Thanks again for the introduction and interview. Not my cuppa since historicals are not my go to but I suspect I’m in the minority.
Kathleen-
Thanks for stopping by. As I write my historicals, I sprinkle in just enough historical sites and/or events to place you in that world. Certainly not a boring history lesson.
Enjoy your next read!
Jean
A new to me author… liking what I see! Thanks for sharing!
Colleen-
Thanks for stopping by.
Clarissa is a character who popped into my head and would not leave me alone until I told her story.
Now I’m working on her best friend,Laura, to tell her story. Working title “Laura’s Story”, what else!
Happy reading,
Jean
