Welcome to my Friday bonus feature called Karen’s Killer Fixin’s **Author Special**!! Today, in lieu of one of my own recipes, I’m going to introduce you to a new author who will share one of her favorite recipes. Not only will you and I occasionally learn how to make something new and delicious, but we’ll get a chance to check out some wonderful authors. Introducing author, KD MICHAELS, and her favorite recipe for Paula Deen’s Not Yo’ Momma’s Banana Pudding!
ANGEL OF HORROR
Guardians of Hope Book 1
BY KD MICHAELS
Laura ‘Red’ Pratt fought her way through the ranks to become a member of the most elite task force in the country. Shamed and ridiculed by her parents and society because of her weight and deafness, she earned the nickname ‘Red’ honestly with her ‘take no crap’ attitude.
Joe ‘Highlander’ MacLeod is a US Navy SEAL to the bone. His men look up to him even as they tease him about his womanizing ways. Women are like his missions—enjoyable, varied, and plentiful to keep his blood pumping. But it’s always on to the next one.
A Marine comes home to a vicious fight, two end up dead, and the blame is squarely on his shoulders. Joe races to save his friend and finds himself forced to work with the irresistible Red. Together, they just might be able to solve the case, if the attraction between them doesn’t derail the investigation.
Editorial Note: Edited for some language.
Joe and his team looked everywhere. Six hours after Laura had been taken, his phone rang, showing her number. “Laura, where the hell are ye, are ye ok?” he asked in a panicked voice.
“Slow down, Charlie Brown. I’m fine. He let me go. You know, I f**king love the outdoors, but I suck ass at navigation, Rambo. I have no f**king clue where I am,” Laura retorted.
Joe had to chuckle just a little at her spitfire attitude, but man he was glad she was ok. “Ok, Raso says she can track ye phone so stay where ye are and don’t hang up. Yell at me some more if that helps. We’re coming to ye.”
“Oh, yay, you want me to stay where there are creepy crawly things and possibly slimy snakes looking at me as their next meal. I”ve seen the ‘Anaconda’, douche wookie. You can kiss my lily-white ass if you think I’m letting that f**king thing make a damn meal out of me. His ass can have you! F**king tell me to stand still and not move You’ve got to be kidding,” Laura said as he could hear her walking.
Joe was so happy to hear her going off, so he knew she was definitely okay. The geolocater showed they were far from where she had been located. He pulled the phone away from his ear and heard her voice in the distance. When he could actually see her, he hung up the phone taking off in a run. He sensed the others following behind him but didn’t wait. As soon as he reached her, Joe pulled Laura into his arms, holding her tight. Taking a deep breathe, he released her so her teammates could see for themselves that she was ok, but never stepped too far away or took his eyes off her.
KD Michaels spent her younger years as a law enforcement officer and a single mom. To keep her sanity with the two, she started writing and was encouraged by a friend to publish her work and the rest is history. When she’s not working full time, traveling, spending time with friends or family, she’s writing the next book while she stays hidden away in a locked cave. She enjoys comedy shows and movies, blow ’em up action packed shows and movies the most and loves her pepsi and tacos even more.
