All the participants had gathered on the roof of Togasoar Towers. Zuni had boughten bleachers and had everyone sit down on either side. Leah stood on one side and Melanie stood on the other. The cameras were on, and it was show time.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Chassin spoke as he starred into one of the drone cameras that floated overhead. “Welcome to the Quarterfinals of the first annual Card Masters Tournament.” The consistence all cheered and clapped. Next year, we would find an arena to host the tournament for us. The first two Feuders are already out in the feuding arena. Please enjoy the show from the comfort of your homes.” He nodded, and the camera turned around and sped away. I was nervous as I was up next.
“That was great,” I spoke as he sat down beside me. “Are you nervous?”
“I gotta take the reins,” he nodded as he popped his neck muscles. “You shouldn’t be nervous, my beloved.”
Easy for you to say. You’re used to being in the spotlight.
I forced a smile as I turned my attention towards the feuding field where the first round was about to start.
Round one: Leah Traxler VS. Melanie Beacon.
Feuders, are you ready?
They both nodded towards the camera and the computerized female voice continued.
FEUD!
I watched as the girls both pressed the center of their rings. They sank down and the two mental rows unfolded across their right arms, and they placed their decks down on the right. They locked their decks into place, so they didn’t fall or slide if they had to move until they drew a new card from the pile. “Let’s feud!”
I tried to pay attention to the feud, but I was way too nervous to sit still. So, I stood and walked over to the side where the cameras couldn’t pick me up on their screens.
“What’s wrong, babe?” Chassin asked as he followed suit. “Are you feeling ill or something?”
“I feel as though I’m going to pass out,” I whispered. “I don’t think I can do this Chassin.”
“Of course you can,” he spoke with confidence I wish I had. “You’re going to advance to the finals with me, Leah, and Nazzy.”
“You just called him by his real name?” I replied.
“No, I didn’t,” he shook his head. “Don’t tell him I said that.” I smirked as I looked over at Leah.
“I play Phoenix of Rage in attack mode,” Leah said as she placed the Creature Card down. A hologram of a phoenix appeared out on the playing field. “Attack!” I watched as the bird flew and swirled around Melanie’s gnome. The garden gnome died instantly, as they burned it alive. I watched as her life points went to zero.
Game one is over. We have eliminated Melanie Beacon from the tournament. Winner… Leah Traxler.
“Yes!” Leah exclaimed in excitement as she ran over to where I stood. “Did you watch me win, Mixie?”
“I did,” I flat out lied to my friend. “You did an amazing job, Leah.” I watched her squeal with excitement as she ran over to Nazzy and gave him a hug.

Bria Lexor is a multi-published popular YA author of Urban Fantasy/Fantasy. Bria has always had a fascination with the supernatural and the paranormal as well as folklore. FOURTH OF JULY CUPCAKES

| 1 box | White Cake Mix (with pudding in the mix) |
| ¾ cup | Vegetable Oil |
| ¾ cup | Sour Cream |
| ½ | Warm Water |
| 3 | Egg (lightly beaten) |
| 2 teaspoons | Vanilla Extract |
| 1 cup | Unsalted Butter (softened) |
| 4 cups | Powdered Sugar (Sifted) |
| ¼ teaspoon | Salt |
| 1 tablespoon | Vanilla Extract |
| add | Milk (up to 4 tablespoons) |
| add | Food Coloring Gel (you will need red and blue) |
